A minimum of 64 Killed in Rio de Janeiro's Most Extensive Security Action on Organized Crime

Four police officers lost their lives during the police action in the communities of Alemão and Penha, state officials said. More than 80 suspects were detained.
Fierce clashes broke out when around 2,500 law enforcement officers moved in on Tuesday early hours. The criminal organization responded with shooting, igniting obstacles and using drone-dropped explosives, authorities said.
