Analysts Detect Russian Fear Operation Against Tomahawk Use

Russian authorities is conducting a psychological influence initiative of intimidations to prevent the US from providing Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine, as reported by defense experts. A senior Russian lawmaker declared: “We are familiar with these projectiles thoroughly, their flight patterns, methods to intercept them, we worked on them in Syria, so this is not innovative. Only those who supply them and the operators will have problems … We will identify methods to target those who cause us trouble.”

Kyiv's Counteroffensive Situation

Kyiv's troops were imposing substantial damage in a counteroffensive in eastern Ukraine, the central battlefield, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Wednesday. Zelenskyy's assessment, based on a communication with his senior military officer, contrasted with Moscow's speech before defense leadership a day earlier in which he asserted Moscow's forces held the military advantage in every combat zone.

According to analysis from early October, defense researchers said Russia was incurring heavy casualty rates, particularly from drone strikes by Ukraine, in exchange for minor territorial gains. Ukrainian forces, Zelenskyy said, were “protecting our positions along all other directions”, referring specifically to Kupiansk, a largely destroyed city in Ukraine's northeast under intense attacks for several months.

Regional Conditions

The regional governor in Ukraine's southern region of the Kherson oblast said Russian attacks on Wednesday caused three deaths in and around the regional capital of the oblast center. The governor of the Sumy oblast, on the northern frontier with neighboring Russia, said three people died in UAV assaults in various areas. Kyiv's air command said it neutralized or disrupted the majority of offensive unmanned aircraft during the night.

Military action significantly harmed a Ukrainian energy facility, officials reported on midweek. Two employees were injured in the attack, as reported by industry sources. Sources gave minimal specifics, about the facility's position, but Ukrainian authorities said attacks targeted critical utilities in northern Ukraine, southern Kherson and the Dnipropetrovsk area.

Humanitarian Consequences

In the north-eastern Sumy town of Shostka, hit hard by the offensive operations against the energy infrastructure, local government has created emergency spaces where civilians are able to seek warmth, access hot drinks, charge their phones and receive psychological support, as reported by regional head.

Global Reactions

The Ukrainian diplomat to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization on midweek called on NATO members to increase acquisitions of United States armaments for Ukrainian forces. “This doesn't mean we prioritize United States armaments rather than allied or alternative military systems – the issue is that we require the US for equipment that EU members can't provide,” said the ambassador.

Germany's national police will soon be allowed to shoot down unmanned aerial vehicles, security chief announced on midweek, following multiple UAV observations believed to be Moscow's attempts to spy and intimidate. Announcing legal changes, the representative said security forces could legally “to take sophisticated countermeasures against UAV risks, such as electronic countermeasures, electronic interference, satellite signal blocking, but also with physical means”.

EU Protection Issues

EU chief stated on Wednesday that EU nations need to ramp up its security measures to respond to Russia's “hybrid warfare” following air incursions, computer network operations and marine communications interference. “This is not isolated incidents. They constitute a systematic and intensifying operation,” the representative said in a presentation to the EU legislative body. “Two incidents are isolated incidents, but three, five, ten – this is a deliberate and targeted hybrid threat strategy against EU nations, and European countries should answer.”

Refugee Situation

The Swiss authorities has continued its refugee protection offered to displaced Ukrainians to at least early 2027. Humanitarian status, which enables individuals to travel abroad as well as be employed in Switzerland, is generally limited to twelve months but can be extended. “This determination reflects the continued precarious security situation and ongoing military actions across large parts of Ukraine,” said a federal announcement. “Notwithstanding worldwide negotiation attempts, a enduring resolution that would allow for secure repatriation is not expected in the foreseeable future.”
