Barcelona Set to Play Inaugural Fixture at Upgraded Camp Nou over the weekend

The club confirmed their first game will take place at the still-under-construction Camp Nou this Saturday. The club will host the Basque side in the Spanish league two and a half years following their departure to allow renovations to start.

“Returning home was our dream. Finally, it’s happening. We are back at Spotify Camp Nou.”

Attendance will be limited though over 45,000 attendees can be present under the licence granted. After final construction, it will accommodate over 104,000 attendees, increasing from the former 99,000. The club said completed upgrades featured an updated entryway for the team plus modern locker rooms.

Preparatory Events

Barcelona held an open training session at the Camp Nou in early November. Officials stated approval is being pursued by UEFA for their upcoming Champions League fixture against Eintracht Frankfurt in December in the renovated venue. They have been hosting matches in the temporary ground.
