Grief as Renowned South African DJ Gunned Down in the City of Johannesburg.
A prominent South African radio and club DJ has been fatally gunned down in the nation's economic hub Johannesburg, causing national outrage across a nation struggling with rampant crime.
Warrick Stock, widely recognized as DJ Warras, was shot and killed in the downtown area on a Tuesday afternoon.
Authorities reported the forty-year-old entertainer was accosted by three suspects, with one shot at him before fleeing on foot.
The reason behind the attack is unknown and no arrests have taken place, police said.
How It Happened
Authorities said that Stock was attacked as he was exiting a premises in the vicinity of the Carlton Centre.
He had devoted time at the site supervising the setup of security systems, which had been illegally inhabited by unidentified individuals, as per local media.
"The report indicates the man was approached by three unidentified men after he parked his car, and they opened fire at him before escaping on foot," authorities confirmed.
CCTV footage showed a man with dreadlocked hair and dressed in what resembled a security uniform firing shots on Stock before running away.
The DJ attempted to flee after he was shot but succumbed to his injuries on the opposite side of the road.
Police added that Stock had an unused firearm and no items were stolen during the assault.
Key evidence, like bullet casings, were discovered at the location.

Officials are asking members of the public who may have have information to assist with the investigation.
"Our information indicates they walked a long distance after the shooting, and officers have been tracking them to determine their destination," stated a police chief.

His family member, Nicole Stock, said the relatives are devastated to process his death.
"I am devastated. I am shattered," she stated.
"It is clear he was a representative for countless citizens. He addressed issues courageously about subjects not many people were willing to tackle. This is a devastating blow."
She requested the citizens to not sharing explicit content from the scene, explaining this was an extremely painful time, above all for Stock's children.

Stock was the presenter of Ngicel' iVisa, a television program that aired on a popular local digital satellite entertainment channel.
In addition to his work in broadcasting, Stock was involved in various entrepreneurial pursuits, including private security, supplying elite guarding services and protecting high-profile events across South Africa.
He was also understood to participate in real estate operations and assisted with building evictions.

In a release, the channel he worked for declared Stock was known for his presence, warmth and sharp wit, adding that his legacy "will endure".
