Tottenham Boss Thomas Frank Labels Vicario Critics 'Not True Real Supporters'

The Cottagers Start Strong to Beat Tottenham and Raise Pressure on the Manager

Spurs supporters who jeered keeper Guglielmo Vicario were informed afterwards "they can't be real Spurs supporters" by boss Frank.

Tottenham conceded two scores in the first initial moments to fall 2-1 to their opponents, marking their tenth Premier League home defeat of the year.

But the main topic of discussion was Fulham's second score when Vicario gave away possession well beyond his box.

The goalkeeper ventured out to handle a high pass and carried the ball near the touchline.

However, rather than kicking it out of play, the Italian turned and attempted to clear away, but lost his footing as the ball skimmed off Harry Wilson and was controlled by King.

King laid the ball off to Wales midfielder Wilson, who bent a shot into the goal from the touchline measured at 36.6 yards.

Seconds later when the ball went to the keeper once more, some Spurs fans booed him.

Spurs were booed off at the interval, with the club 2-0 down, and once more at full-time.

A particular of those booing sessions truly angered the manager.

"It came to my attention some of our supporters apparently jeered the incident and booed following, which, in my opinion is totally unjustifiable," the Danish manager stated regarding the fans' response to his goalkeeper.

"[They] can't be true Tottenham fans that do that. Alright booing following the game, no problem, but when we are playing, we are supporting each other, we are with one another going forward."

Kenny Tete had handed the visitors a fourth-minute advantage before Harry Wilson's goal – with Mohammed Kudus netting for Spurs in an improved second-half performance.

Ex- Premier League keeper Joe Hart remarked that the second goal was "completely preventable".

"I do understand the fans' frustration," Hart continued. "I know the role Vicario is performing. He's a excellent squad member, he's a true leader in the locker room but in the end you are going to be judged by your decisions.

"He was deeply implicated in what turned out to be the winning score."

'It is Part of Football, I'm a Big Man'

Frank Defended His Keeper Vicario After the Game

Italy national team Vicario is in his 3rd season with Tottenham.

He stated after the game that he had to accept the criticism.

"That score was a mistake of my own, I accept responsibility for it," he said.

"My aim was to clear the ball far and I just hit the ball in a bad way. That made an more difficult mountain to climb."

He stated being booed "is part of football".

"I am mature, what can I say?" he added. "We cannot be affected by the circumstances in the stands. The fans have the entitlement to do what they think.

"It's on the team to stay more composed, to focus on our own performance. The team is missing in composure and calmness to reverse outcomes. Today is a poor loss and it's hard to accept."

'I Was Surprised Nobody Went Back to the Goal Line'

Despite the keeper's mistake, it was far from an easy goal for Harry Wilson to score.

In fact it was the second longest-range top division goal of the season – following Adams' 43.3 metre goal for Bournemouth against the Black Cats, which interestingly too came on the same day.

The goalscorer said he was "somewhat surprised" that he still had an open goal to aim for.

10 moments passed between the keeper coming out of his area and Wilson striking – which was five seconds following the kick.

"It seemed to me like the goalkeeper was out of the box for a long time," Wilson said.

"I was surprised none of the back four went back to the line. When none of them covered the goal, my eyes sparked somewhat.

"Udogie fell too, which allowed me a little extra opportunity. Then it was solely about attempting to achieve the correct contact and get it towards goal. I had a good feeling, the moment it came off my foot, that it was on the right line."

'During in a Bad Spell, Everything Seems to Go Against You'

Jeering Whilst We Are Still in Play Is Totally Unjustifiable - the Manager

While the keeper's mistake led coverage, this was an all-round bad performance for Tottenham to extend their home ground woes.

This was their 10th at home loss of 2025 in the Premier League, a joint club statistic along with 1994 and 2003.

The side still have home games against the manager's former club Brentford and champions the Reds to play prior to the close of the season.

Only one of those wins have come after the manager replaced his predecessor in the off-season.

"When you're down 2-0 following six minutes, there is a huge challenge to climb," said Frank.

"When you're in a bad spell, everything seems to work against you as well – the first was a deflected shot, the next is a mistake from Vic.

"This result puts us in a position where we have suffered an additional match. Every game has a unique narrative, this game we lost in the first six minutes.

"We just need to continue striving. The second half was much better and with luck an aspect we can utilize to develop."

Spurs have lost four straight at home London derbies for the first time in the top division.

And they are averaging 9.5 attempts and 3.2 shots on target per game in the Premier League – their lowest rates on file in a single campaign (dating back to 2003-04).

Ex- Fulham midfield player Murphy stated that Frank has to ride the storm.

"He must accept the stick," the pundit said. "He's accepted a prestigious job at a major football club with enormous anticipation. There is pressure and responsibility that comes with that.

"The performances at home have been disappointing and they have to get better {quickly|
