The relatives of young people lost after a tragic inferno at a bar in a Swiss alpine town are facing an agonising wait for confirmed information and appealing for information about their loved ones publicly.

The fire engulfed the Le Constellation bar in the alpine resort, located in the Alps of south-west Switzerland, in the small hours of January 1st. Circulated video show the roof structure being engulfed in flames as bottles with sparklers are held aloft.

Emergency services have indicated that it could take considerable time to formally name the victims of the disaster, which resulted in the death of numerous partygoers and hurt another over a hundred.
